This week we will continue using the “The Twelve Days of Christmas” song as we bring our secret pal before the Lord.

Monday, December 21

“On the 8th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me eight maids a-milking…” At the time this was written, being a milk maid was considered one of the worst/lowliest jobs to be done. This verse characterizes the Beatitudes.  Today, read them out loud, then think of which ones might apply to your pal and using the person’s name, pray over them.

Then Jesus turned to His disciples and said,

God blesses you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is yours.

God blesses you who are hungry now, for you will be satisfied.

God blesses you who weep now, for in due time you will laugh.

What blessings await you when people hate you and exclude you,

and mock you and curse you as evil because you follow the Son of Man.

When that happens, be happy! Yes, leap for joy!

For a great reward awaits you in heaven.  And remember, their ancestors

treated the ancient prophets that same way.   Luke 6:20-23

Tuesday, December 22

“On the 9th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me nine ladies dancing…” There are nine characteristics in the fruit of the Spirit & it is believed that the nine ladies are representing that fruit…notice it says fruit singular & not plural…say your pal’s name & pray each one of them.

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  There is no law against these things!     Galatians 5:22-23

Wednesday, December 23

“On the 10th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me ten lords a-leaping…”  They say this is the easiest to understand: the 10 commandments.  Ask God to give your pal the desire to follow Him and the words He gave us…

Then God gave the people all these instructions…

You must not have any other god but me.

You must not make for yourself and idol of any kind or

an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea.

You must not misuse the name of the Lord your God…

Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy…

            Honor your father and mother…

            You must not murder.

            You must commit adultery.

You must not testify falsely against your neighbor.

You must not covert your neighbor’s house…                Exodus 20:1-17

Thursday, December 24

“On the 11th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, 11 piper piping…” Of the 12 apostles, 11 faithfully served Jesus and this verse represents those 11.  Today pray that your pal will be faithfully following Jesus.

But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey My commandments.                        Exodus 20:6

Friday, December 25

“On the 12th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me 12 drummers drumming…”  Here the drummers represent the 12 themes of doctrine in the Apostles Creed.

In this most unusual Christmas season, the only place to find relief, hope, and peace is in God’s word.  I leave you with this blessing that God gave to Moses; may it echo through the ages and into each one of your hearts.

May the Lord bless you and protect you.

May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you.

May the Lord show you His favor and give you His peace.

                                                            Numbers 6:24-26
